Why do I need an itemised account for online claiming?

An itemised account will detail a fee for each item on the account. This detail will enable the maximum benefit to be assessed and paid online.

The following example shows an itemised dental account detailing a fee for each item:

 


A non-itemised or bulk fee account has one total fee for several items. For example:


To enable the maximum benefit to be paid online you will need to contact your provider and obtain an account that details a fee for each item provided.

What is a tooth number?

A tooth number identifies the tooth the dentist has performed the work on. Some items don’t have tooth number’s such as an oral exam or x-ray, but if your dentist has performed a filling this would have a tooth number as they were working on one tooth. This is always a two digit number.

Trying to send receipts via email but it doesn’t work

This function will only work if you are using Outlook as your email software. If you don’t have Outlook you will need to use the Finish and Post option.

If you have the pop up blocker on your computer set to no, this may also cause the email function to not display correctly.

I am trying to log a claim for my alternative therapy service, but I can’t find my provider

Extras providers must be registered with a relevant organisation to be covered for benefits. Alternative therapy providers must be registered with the Australian Regional Health Group for benefits to be paid.

How will I know that you have received my claim when I have sent an email and scanned receipts?

You will receive an auto reply email to let you know we have received your email.

I have finished my claim but can’t see how to exit

Once you have used the Finish and Post Claim or Finish and Email Claim options you can log out in the top right hand corner. Alternatively, if you wish to view further details, click on My Account in the top right hand corner.

I have logged 2 claim lines, for services on the same day for the same provider, one for me and one for my partner. I am getting a message “possible duplicate” and there are no benefits paid for the second service.

If the services are for different people you should submit the claim. Our system will acknowledge the claim is for different people and the correct benefits will be paid.

I have forgotten to send my receipts, how can I send them now?

If you have logged out of the online claim function, you can no longer use the e-mail function to send the claim. You should go to the View claims history and find the online claim in the claims history. There will be lines which display Paid, Send receipts now or Pending. By clicking on the link you can re-create the claim form for this claim which can be printed and sent to Defence Health with your receipts.

I have logged 2 claim lines for dental item 022 x 2. I am getting message “possible duplicate” and there are no benefits paid for the second 022.

We will review the claim within 24 hours and we will organise the benefits to be paid on the second item before your money is deposited into your account.

What amount should I use as the cost of the service?

You are only permitted to claim the cost to you of the health service provided. If your provider has discounted the cost of their services then you must claim the discounted amount.

If the bill included a delivery fee or credit card charge these administrative charges cannot be claimed. They were not part of the health service provided to you.
