1 If your doctor chooses to use the Access Gap Cover schedule of fees, Defence Health can cover up to 100% of the doctor's fee. At a minimum, Defence Health will cover the difference between the Medicare rebate and the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) fee.
2 No-gap prostheses as defined in the Federal Government’s Prostheses Listing are covered 100%. More expensive prostheses may attract out-of-pocket expenses.
3 Pharmaceuticals are not covered where you choose to be treated in a private hospital.
Non-resident limitations
The ADF Top Hospital and ADF Public Hospital products are not suitable for non-residents without full Medicare entitlements, including overseas visitors from countries with Australian Government reciprocal health care arrangements.
This information is current as at 1 April 2011 and effective through to 31 March 2012. It replaces all earlier versions. Please read it carefully and retain with any other Defence Health documentation.
