You may either be eligible in your own right or you may have a family relationship with someone who is eligible.

Eligible to join in your own right

Eligible to join through a family relationship

You are eligible in your own right to join Defence Health, if you:

  • are a serving member of the permanent ADF.
  • are a serving member of the ADF Reserve.
  • are an ex-serving member of the Australian Defence Forces.
  • are a current - or former - employee of the Department of Defence, and other government departments that assist or advise the defence community.
  • are a current – or former – contractor to the Department of Defence.
  • are a current – or former - employee of companies and agencies who are contracted to the Department of Defence, and where the employee is or was involved in supplying goods or services to Defence.
  • were a member of Defence Health on 12 October 2007.

If you are related to someone eligible on the left and your family relationship is listed below, then you can join Defence Health too:

  • Spouses or partners
  • Former spouses or partners
  • Dependent children
  • Adult children and their partners and dependent children
  • Sisters and brothers and their partners and dependent children
  • Mothers and fathers
  • Grandchildren

 

So if your own work currently supports, or previously supported the Defence Forces, or you provide or provided the family support to those who do this work, Defence Health welcomes all of you. The Defence family is a very broad group and one that Defence Health is proud to serve.
