We have agreements with more than 500 private hospitals and day surgery centres, giving you choice and convenience.
If your specialist agrees to use Access Gap, you can lower or eliminate the out-of-pocket charges for your in-hospital medical treatment. Doctors can choose to bill their patients under Access Gap on a case-by-case basis.
We will pay your extras benefit for general treatment on-the-spot (subject to our General claiming conditions). All the provider needs to do is swipe your Defence Health membership card and deduct your benefit from the balance owed.
Providers must be registered with their professional body (or the Australian Regional Health Group for approved alternative therapists). You can visit any registered provider. But we have special member prices and no-gap offers across our dental network and optical network.
