Find an extras provider

Defence Health will pay benefits for treatment by extras providers registered with their professional body, and approved alternative therapists who are recognised by the Australian Regional Health Group, within the limitations of your cover. 

This means you can choose any registered provider you like (subject to our General claiming conditions) and still receive great Defence Health benefits; remember to check your preferred provider is a registered provider when you make your appointment.

If the provider is registered with HICAPS (like many dentists, optometrists and physiotherapists) you will receive your benefit payment on-the-spot when your member card is swiped through the HICAPS terminal​​. 

Please note - Registration with HICAPS does not guarantee that providers are recognised by Defence Health or part of the preferred Defence Health networks. Visit our network pages to find our preferred dental network or optical network providers.
